SPRINGFIELD – Renysha Brown of East St. Louis, with Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment of Joint Force Headquarters in Springfield, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Jan. 22. 

Brown has 23 years of military service. She enlisted in the Active Army in 1989 and spent three years as an enlisted Soldier. In 1992 she transitioned to the Illinois Army National Guard and earned her commission through the Illinois Army National Guard Officer Candidate School program. Brown was activated for Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990 to 1991 and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 to 2005. She is assigned as the supply management branch chief for Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment of Joint Force Headquarters in Springfield. Brown resides in Belleville with her husband and two sons.
