Illinois National Guard Grant

Members of the Illinois National Guard may be eligible to receive the Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant. This grant can pay for eligible tuition and certain fees for undergraduate or graduate study at Illinois 2-4 year public colleges. The grant can be used for a maximum of the equivalent of four academic years of full-time enrollment. Contact the college's financial aid office to determine what portion of total tuition and fees will be covered by this grant.(Available from http://www.collegeillinois.org).

To be eligible for this grant:

  • Completed 1 year of service in the Illinois National Guard
  • Enlisted member or Officer
  • Enrolled at a public Illinois 2-4 year college
  • Not in default of any student load or owe a refund on any state or federal grant.
  • Maintain acceptable grade point average.

In reference to the Higher Education Student Assistance Act/110 ILCS 947, Section 45 effective 01 July 2002, the Illinois National Guard Grant can be suspended for soldiers who attain 9 Absent Without Leaves (AWOLS) within a 12-month period. Illinois Veterans Grant

This grant pays eligible tuition and allowable fees at any public, 2-4 year Illinois college. This grant may be used for undergraduate or graduate studies. This is available to those who have served at least one year of federal active duty service in the Armed Services; or served on federal active duty service in a foreign country during hostilities in that county.
