The Human Resources
Office (HRO) provides centralized personnel administration for Army and
Air National Guard federal technicians and Active Guard/Reserve (AGR)
program. The office furnishes the Adjutant General, his staff, managers
and supervisors with technical assistance and guidance on such areas as
manpower and position management, recruiting, career management,
classification, staffing, labor relations and equal employment
opportunity.

Types of Positions Available
There are three types of
employment positions within the Department of Military Affairs, Illinois
National Guard:
Federal Technician,
Active Guard Reserve (AGR)
and state. All openings are posted under "Job
Openings" on this site, however, the
administration of state positions is handled by the State Personnel
Office in the Department of Military Affairs. You can contact them at

HRO
consists of three branches - Classification Resource and Staffing
Branch, Labor and Employee Relations Branch, and Services and Support
Branch.
Classification Resource and Staffing
This Branch has three primary functions; Staffing,
Classification and Budget, supporting the Technician and Active Guard
Reserve (AGR) programs for both the Illinois Army and Air National
Guard.
- Responsible for merit promotions and
placement of the technician workforce
- Responsible for Army and Air National
Guard AGR vacancy announcements
- Responsible for workforce management and
classification
- Responsible for the maintenance of
technician pay account budgets
Labor and Employee Relations
Primary functions include:
- Technical and advisory assistance to HRO
relative to the Department of Defense Civilian Personnel Data
System (DCPDS)
- Develops management information products and
reports for HRO and field levels
- Personnel actions
- Technician benefits while on active duty and
restoration rights under Uniform Services Employment and
Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)
- Performance management and
discipline/adverse actions
Service and Support
Primary functions include:
- Manages all functions of Military and
Federal Equal Opportunity to include discrimination complaint
process
- Manages Special Emphasis programs and
Diversity Initiatives
- Administers the technician training program
and process, maintains, and monitors training funds
- Provides assistance and advice to
supervisors and managers
- Support and enhance the mobilization
readiness of the Army National Guard through the Active Guard
Reserve (AGR) program
