SPRINGFIELD, Illinois - Spc. Jared Reyes, front left, of Harvard, Illinois, is shown with Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston and other Soldiers honored at the Army-Navy game Dec. 11. Reyes was at a tavern with friends in Wisconsin in April when a disgruntled patron returned to the tavern with a gun and started firing into the crowd. Two of Reyes' friends were shot. Reyes shielded them with his body while administering first aid. He then began to usher others to safety from the tavern's patio. Reyes, a member of the Illinois Army National Guard's 33rd Military Police Battalion, 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, was one of 10 Soldiers honored by the Chief of Staff of the Army, General James C. McConville, during the game. He was selected from more than 150 nominees Army-wide. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Kelsey Simmons, 4th Infantry Division)
