SPRINGFIELD, Illinois - Five-year-old George Steven rips the major rank from his mother's uniform during Lt. Col. Jaime Marlock's promotion ceremony. His father and her spouse, George Marlock, looks on. Col. Lenny Williams, the Illinois Army National Guard Chief of Staff, presided over Marlock's promotion and spoke about her importance to the organization during Marlock's promotion ceremony on Aug. 6 at the Illinois National Guard headquarters on Camp Lincoln in Springfield. Marlock, a Lake St. Louis (Missouri) resident and native of Moline, Illinois, is the G6 (information technology and cyber) Branch Chief. She enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard 20 years ago and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2008 through the Guard's 129th Regional Training Institute's Officer Candidate School based in Springfield.
