Springfield, IL - Illinois State Military Museum volunteer Richard Schachtsiek of Springfield explains the advancements in the modern Army uniform from World War I with Illinois Army National Guard Cpl. Marina Lopez-Melgoza serving as a model. The museum held its annual Great War Encampment on Nov. 4. The event tells the military history of World War I through displays and re-enactments. The museum, on the Illinois National Guard headquarters of Camp Lincoln in Springfield, tells the history of the Illinois National Guard from its colonial roots to modern units.
