Bloomington, Ill. - Gold Star Mission President Barry Tobias, U.S. Army Survivor Outreach Services Coordinator Michelle Rutherford, Gold Star Mother Vonda Rodgers, and Brig. Gen. Lenny Williams, the Assistant Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard, pose for a photo after the American Gold Star Families’ Fallen Heroes Tree of Honor Tree Lighting Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 17, at Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, Ill. Vonda Rodgers' son, U.S. Army Sgt. Joshua P. Rodgers, was killed April 27, 2017 fighting ISIS in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. General Williams served as a speaker during the event.
