Lisbon, Port. - General José Fonseca, Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Armed Forces, speaks at the State Partnership Program signing between the Portuguese military and the Illinois National Guard, Jan. 12, at the Portuguese Ministry of Defense in Lisbon. General Fonseca said this is is “a clear commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, aimed at strengthening capabilities, interoperability and joint preparedness, in service of the Armed Forces of both countries. This is a sure step in consolidating a relationship between allies who share responsibilities in promoting collective security and international stability, projecting into the future a pragmatic, sustained and results-oriented cooperation, in service of the United States of America and Portugal.”
