SPRINGFIELD, Illinois - Brig. Gen. Lenny Williams, Assistant Adjutant General – Army and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard, presents Sue King-Wieczorek, Gold Star mother of U.S. Army Sgt. Robert M. Weinger, with a shadow box containing Weinger’s medals he earned during his military service in the Illinois Army National Guard. Also pictured are King-Wieczorek’s husband, Ray, Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Kelly, State Command Sergeant Major, and Chief Warrant Officer 5 Thomas Black, Command Chief Warrant Officer of the Illinois National Guard. Weinger is one of 34 Illinois National Guard service members who gave their lives in service to their country since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
