Colonel Brian S. Creech currently serves as the United States Property & Fiscal Officer for Illinois and is assigned to the Joint Forces Headquarters where he receives and accounts for all funds and property of the United States in the possession of the Illinois National Guard. He ensures federal funds are obligated and expended in accordance with statutes and regulations. He makes returns and reports on federal funds and property as directed by the CNGB and the appropriate Service Secretary. COL Creech provides financial and logistical resources for maintaining federal property provided to the Illinois National Guard. He ensures internal controls are in place and assists units/activities within the state to ensure federal property is issued and maintained in accordance with regulations.
Colonel Creech graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, Springfield and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes Infantry Officer Basic Course, Quartermaster and Ordnance Officer Advance Courses, Multifunctional Combat Service Support Course, Human Resource Officer Qualification Course, Combined Arms and Service Staff School (CAS3), Intermediate Leaders Education (ILE), Advance Operation Course (AOC), Sustainment Pre-Command Course, and Enhanced Defense Financial Managers Training. He is also a Certified Defense Financial Manager, Defense Financial Manager Certified Level III, and was a Level II Certified Contracting Officer.
Colonel Creech spent 10 years enlisted as an infantry rifleman, team leader, and squad leader. His assignments include Platoon Leader A/1/123 Infantry Company and 3637th Maintenance Company. His staff positions include S1, S2/3, and S4 for the 232nd Corps Support Battalion, Contracting Officer, Budget Officer, Financial Manager, and Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist for JFHQ. He also did a T10 tour at the National Guard Bureau as the Resource and Contracting Manager for the Recruiting and Retention Division. His State Head Quarters assignments include the Director of Human Resources, and the Deputy United States Property & Fiscal Officer for Illinois. Colonel Creech commanded the 3637th Maintenance Company, Joint Forces Head Quarters HHD, and the 405th Brigade Support Battalion. He deployed with the 232nd Corps Support Battalion January 2004 thru January 2005 serving as the S 2/3 Officer in Iraq and participated in multinational exercises Eager Lion in Jordan and Anaconda 18 in Poland.
Colonel Creech’s decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with two Oak Leaf Cluster), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Reserve Component, Achievement Medal (with four Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Star), Humanitarian Service Metal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Iraq Campaign Medal (with 2 Bronze Stars), Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Hourglass, M device), Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (fifth award), and numerous Illinois awards.
Colonel Creech and his wife Stephanie have four children, Zachary, Ethan, Dylan, and Bryson.
