Combat Chords is a program started in the 144th Army Band that allows service members and their loved ones to send music to each other with the goal of improving the morale of and strengthening the military community.
Whether they are veterans or are currently serving, with this program, service members and their loved ones will be able to request a song to be played and sent to a recipient of their choice. Once the request has been submitted, individual musicians or ensembles within the 144th Army Band will record a short, personal video of themselves playing the requested song. That video is then edited, uploaded to YouTube as a public or unlisted video, and finally sent out via email with a short message if requested.
As Army Musicians, we have a mission to promote the Army, to enhance public confidence and patriotism among Americans, and to improve the morale and welfare of soldiers, veterans, and families. Our impact as musicians is extended through Combat Chords, boosting the image of the Army, and strengthening communities we would otherwise be unable to reach.
How it Works
Step 1: Fill out the Music Request form
Step 2: Musicians in the 144th Army Band play your song!
Step 3: The video of their performance is edited based on your preferences.
Step 4: Your song will be delivered publicly or privately to your recipient via YouTube, and they will be notified by email along with a message if requested.
The music request form can only be accessed on a non-government device such as a personal computer or phone.
