Illinois National Guard Soldiers on Flood Duty in East Cape Girardeau, Illinois

Soldiers from the 933rd Military Police Company located in Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, 1844th Transportation Company located in East St. Louis, Illinois and 708th Medical Company located in North Riverside, Illinois have been working flood duty at East Cape Girardeau, Illinois Monday and Tuesday.

Since being activated for State Active Duty June 4 by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the Soldiers have been sandbagging, monitoring the sand boils and assisting with the aquadams in the southern Illinois communities of East Cape Girardeau, Wolf Lake, Prairie Du Rocher and Valmeyer.

In three days, the Soldiers have moved 23,950 sandbags.
