Urbana, Illinois – Randall J. Clapham of Charleston, Illinois, was promoted to the rank of sergeant major during a ceremony at the Urbana Readiness Center in Urbana Oct. 18.
Clapham is an 11B, infantryman who enlisted in the Illinois National Guard in April of 1996. With this promotion Clapham will assume the duties of Brigade Operations Sergeant Major assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Illinois Army National Guard based in Urbana, Illinois.
Clapham’s new rank was pinned on his uniform during the ceremony by his wife Jennifer and sons Justice, 9, and Sgt. Dylan Clapham, 23, who is also an 11B, infantryman, assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment, Illinois Army National Guard.
