Illinois National Guard Soldier Lindsey Gibbs, from Pleasant Plains, Illinois, was promoted to Sergeant First Class in a ceremony at the Illinois Military Academy, Camp Lincoln, Springfield, Illinois, Oct. 15.
Gibbs enlisted in January 2002, and has served as a Motor Transport Operator and as a Human Resources Specialist during her 18 years of military service.
“Sergeant First Class Gibbs has worked many different jobs over the years and has been successful in every assignment in which she has served,” said Col. Daniel Reichen, of Springfield, Illinois, military personnel officer for the Illinois Army National Guard. “As the automation non-commissioned officer in charge in the military personnel office, she has a big job ahead of her, but G-1 is better off.”
Gibbs thanked her family for their support during her military service.
“Without the support of my family, I can’t do my job and further my career,” she said. “There are times I can’t be with my family. I want my sons to know this is why.”
Reichen also presented the Army Commendation Medal to Gibbs during the ceremony, in part for “outstanding service while assigned as the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Joint Forces Headquarters, assistant operations non-commissioned officer.”
