SPRINGFIELD, Illinois - Maj. Gen. Rich Neely, of Springfield, the Adjutant General of Illinois and Commander of the Illinois National Guard, speaks at the Department of Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars 100th annual State Convention June 11 in Springfield, Illinois. Neely thanked the members for their service while accepting the 2021 Department of Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars Hometown Heroes of the Year Award. During his remarks Neely told the combat veterans organization and their families that members of today’s military are the recipients of their past work.
